Relay is entering an exciting new chapter of growth. We’re looking for a Senior Brand Design Manager to help us scale our brand and Marketing engine. This is a unique opportunity to own and evolve Relay’s visual brand storytelling to accelerate our growth with U.S. small businesses and this role will report directly to our Director of Brand.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own and evolve Relay’s visual brand across while ensuring all visual assets align to our brand with a high caliber of quality
  • Create and lead the design strategy of all assets across marketing with a focus on scaling Relay’s brand
  • Measure the impact of Relay’s brand designs in the market and understand how the assets (landing pages, emails, etc.) deliver business growth
  • Work as an integrated leader within the marketing team, collaborating closely with Content, Community, Growth and Events team members to ensure campaigns and deliverables get to market
  • Build, grow and lead a team of full time and freelance designers to unlock scale for brand design
  • Develop a process playbook for and manage the design pipeline of multiple, concurrent projects to meet deadlines and drive elevated, on-brand results for the marketing team
  • Manage the design function to deliver a wide variety of visual assets, from campaign creative direction, web pages, blog images, video direction, ads to print collateral, sales enablement PDFs, collateral and booth design for trade shows, and beyond
  • Proactively communicate work progress, risks, blockers and performance of Brand Design function to other functional leaders
  • Lead tactical and strategic collaborations with Sales, People, and Product teams by providing design vision, feedback and visual asset support as needed
  • Deeply learn our customer and market to evolve Relay’s visual storytelling to deliver on customer needs and business goals

Who You Are:

  • You have 7+ years of design experience across a wide variety of formats
  • You have a deep skill set in visual storytelling, creative conceptualization, and design execution with an inspiring portfolio that backs up your ability to drive brand design impact in market, manage teams and deliver results
  • You are a natural team leader who has managed direct reports and/or freelancers across multiple projects to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work
  • You are impact-oriented, you care deeply about impacting the growth of Relay’s business through our marketing funnel as much as you love designing beautiful things
  • You consider yourself a resident expert in one of the major design platform (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign)
  • You take pride in your ability to research the customers you’re designing for and understand their pain points, and operations to bring that into your design strategy
  • You are a builder, problem-solver and cross-functional partner who is energized by making quality work happen in a fast-paced, scrappy environment
  • You are collaborative and seek out and appreciate feedback on design work, and thrive in team based environments
  • You are incredibly organized and have the proven experience to manage teams through multiple concurrent deadlines at once

Bonus Points:

  • You have skills in editorial design, illustration or front-end web development
  • You have a demonstrated ability to lead teams that contribute to growth outcomes through design work
  • You have experience working at a startup or high-growth environment

The Interview Process:

  • Stage 1: A 30-minute Google Meets video call with a member of the People Team
  • Stage 2: A 45-minute Google Meets video call with the Director of Brand
  • Stage 3: A take-home design-focused case study + writing sample, followed by a 1-hour presentation of your solution to our Marketing team
  • Stage 4: A 30-min Google Meets video call with a member of Relay’s Leadership team
